Robotics

Electromechanica, Inc. designs and fabricates innovative robots for a challenging range of applications. Our primary focus is internal pipe inspection robots and ‘smart’ pigs. These robots, crawlers & pigs are all custom designed to meet specific client requirements. Some of the capabilities for pipe robots and crawlers we design:

  • Pipe range 1.5" to 36" dia.
  • Range to 5000+ ft.
  • Tethered & semiautonomous
  • Failsafe tether extractable
  • Conventional tracked/wheeled crawlers
  • Peristaltic 'inchworm' crawlers
  • Capable of negotiating: ells, tees, valves, vertical runs and other obstacles
  • Turns to 1D bend radius. Bend radius is typically payload dependent rather than robot dependent.
  • Capable of carrying a wide spectrum of sensors including position, cameras, IR, NDT test equipment (UT/Mag-flux/etc.), chem/bio/rad detection
  • Capable of carrying a wide variety of tools including grippers/manipulators, cutting tools, etc.
  • Various seal/material options depending on in-pipe condition requirements including:
    • Hazardous environments
    • Wash-down requirements
    • Gas/Liquid pressure
    • Live flow in pipe
    • High/low temperature


Because of the wide variety of requirements/applications we do not have standard COTS offerings. We do offer rapid response and turn around on custom designs. Most custom quotes can be prepared in 1 week. Depending on complexity our lead time for a fully custom design is 3-9 mo. Please contact us with your requirements.

Electromechanica, Inc. also designs mechatronic robots for such unique applications as marketing and sales. In one such project we designed a custom bartending robot for a marketing promotion with Jack Daniels®.
